Weekly Update 5/18

Parents,
The countdown is officially on--only three more weeks of school left!! It is crazy that the year is almost over, but that means there are many things going on!  Please notice all of the important information and dates below:

*PEP Book Fair:  All students at Heritage Elementary have the privilege to attend a free book fair this week!  K-1 students went today, 2-3 goes tomorrow, and 4-5 goes Wednesday.  Students will have a book sac that they will get to fill with 12 books for FREE!  Students will get to choose their own books.  We hope to encourage the students to read the books they chose over the summer!
*Career Day:  Students in grades 3-5 will have the opportunity to listen to guest speakers on Thursday, May 22nd about different careers and occupations.  There are many different types of professions coming, and we hope to inspire students to reach their dreams and pursue their passions.
*Exhibition:  We are doing exhibition slightly different this year.  Instead of each student doing their own individual project, we are working on a project as a whole.  We are working to collect can tabs to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House of the Carolinas.  We want to put all of our efforts towards one greater cause that helps our local area.  Please send in any tabs that you come across.  Your student is welcome to create a jar for collections if they choose.
*Awards Day/Fifth Grade Day:  Our awards day is Monday, June 1st (two weeks from today).  It starts at 8:30am and will last approximately an hour and a half.  After awards day, the classes will return to our rooms where students can show off the class awards they received earlier that day. There will be time for students to change into their shirts from their awards day attire.  We will start Fifth grade day shortly afterwards and will last until dismissal.
**We are accepting donations to help fund the fun activities planned for the day.  Please send in any donation with your child.  Checks may be addressed Heritage Elementary PTA.
*End of year stuff:  Students should turn in any library books by this Thursday, May 21st.  If a student has a lost book, they can visit the library to see how much the fine is.  All fines must be paid by the end of May.  Also, if you have not done so already, send in a self-addressed stamped envelope for the report card to be mailed to you.

If you have any questions or concerns about any of the above, please let me know and I will be happy to help!
